With many technology things, I want the greatest and latest. My phone was the latest thing until about two weeks later. That last part not being my fault. We might want the latest and greatest and we might be able to acquire it so. However, the second you buy a technology gadget, it’s old about two weeks later. It’s just a matter of fact these days. Thus, you cam savor your moment of feeling special for a limited time only. They should just note that fleeting psychological feeling in the item specifications.
Oh boy. I think I might have gone on a rant. I’m not too sure, though. Just earlier today I thought I hadn’t been so nice in a work meeting, where I essentially wondered out loud why my time was being wasted. Turns out no one really thought I had neen mean. I shrugged and thought I’m either way more charming than even I know myself to be or people’s tolerance for being told such harsh facts has increased. Either way, I took it as a win. And, not I truly may have digressed.
Anyway, let me move this forward.
Regardless of my love of new technology gadgets, I am going to buy something that is absolutely about to go obsolete. And, I’m thrilled about it. I am going to buy an Apple iPod Touch, even though I have one which works perfectly fine, because I need to make sure I have a one going forward. See, they are about to be discontinued and my nostalgic self who yearns for simplicity at times cannot bear thinking of not having my iPod.
Let it be noted that many people tease (or even make fun of) me for having an iPod. And, it’s usually snobby Apple super fans who do so. Don’t get me started on that special breed. Anyway, I don’t need my music to just be a streaming service on my phone. I did finally succumb to getting Spotify. However, I like the sense of commitment that an old school device such as the iPod gives me. Further, it’s an iconic product line that changed the music industry, Apple itself, and us as a society and consumer. As part of its charm, I actually like owning songs that I can listen to 20 times in a row. I think I have done that with Adele’s Oh My God. It is a great song to dance, sing and dream. I am particularly fond of the lyrics of :

Anyway, nostalgia is fun. Simplicity cam be cool. Plus, the iPod touch come in hot pink and in red. Now, that excites me. Oh, the little things in life. Enjoy them! Even if, or especially because, old school can still good for the soul.

I still have a classic iPod and hoping nothing happens to the only two remaining charge cords I have for it. I, too, love having my own library of music. Of course I still have one container of cassette tapes I can’t quite get rid of either. Just the motion of putting the tape in the player takes me back to another era.
