No one came

She woke up in a panic. She had dreamt that he was gone. That he was no longer here to help soothe her nerves. To help ease her toothaches. To help her walk across all of life’s platforms.

She ran her hand through her hair and worked out the knots. Her hair was always prone to knots. It was her lot in life. She smiled and looked around. She started to panic. No one else was around. She didn’t know where she was or why they were still. She couldn’t sit still. This was unnerving. She screamed out his name but no one came.

She then started yelling “Stand back. Stand back.” And, no one came
