In six months the swamp would be alive

She sauntered through the swamp, blissfully gliding through the muddy waters.  The swamp was her home. The gators and mosquitoes were her protector.  The bites didn’t matter. Nothing else mattered but this very second.  The moment fill with thick air was to be savored.

Just 20 seconds till the darkness. This second was sheer bliss. She rubbed her leg, tapped her feet and skipped to her heartbeat.  It was starting to slow down.

She waved goodbye to her family and dove underground.

Her legs became fins. The kids stood tall, safe and loved.

In six months, she would be back and the swamp would be alive.
