To quote Gwen Stefani, it’s going to be bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S. And, not just because its going to be a leap year. Or because there will be four months in a row with a supermoon.
I believe everyone knows to expect chaos and the unexpected this coming year. In 2020 horror films (i.e. Quiet Place, Saw, Candyman, etc.) will be released in full force. I know that when I’m scared on a flight, I tend to watch a scary film or television show. I suppose the film industry knows something we don’t.
One good thing, pop-culture wise is that Bill and Ted’s new movie is coming out continuing to keep Keanu Reeves in our consciousness. Seems to me his career is better now than 20 years ago. By all accounts he is a decent, nice guy who deserves this renaissance. On another note, quite fittingly Godzilla versus King Kong is slated to be released in November. Let’s see how that plays out. But before we get there, I’m excitedly anticipating Wonder Woman 1984 and Top Gun -both due out in the summer. Here’s hoping films offer us a great escapism.
On October 31, 2020, Queen’s hit song “Bohemian Rhapsody” turns 45. What?! Be on the look out for tons of bad karaoke versions of the song at bars stadiums and cars. Plan your day wisely.
In the sports world, let’s see what scandals erupt at the summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Historically, a major anniversary will come. On August 26th, we will have the centennial of the ratification of the 19th amendment which gave American women the right to vote. How we will observe thst milestone, I don’t know. But I will be sure to share that part of history with my son.
Look out for the blue moon come Halloween. Spooky!
