What book could you read over and over again?
I’m going to be frank with you. I used to read books with a voracious quality, signaling my need to read more and more. My mom used to go to the public library on my behalf, at times, and come back with ten books. I write a novel (a bad one) at a young age. I wish I still had it. I would cry a storm if I were to ever find it because it represents a time where the written word meant so much to me. It’s a time when I was enchanted to go on a journey of imagination.
Fast forward to today, and I haven’t read a book in a long time. I want to read one. I don’t want to just be reading bite or Twitter-size ramblings all day-long. I also am a bit tired of all my field papers, I supposely need to read to keep up with the prevailing wisdom that healthcare is and needs to change.
Healthcare, a year from now, will be different. The world banking system will be different. None of what we are currently doing is sustainable. But I most certainly have digressed. Although, I have not.
With all the changes afoot, I need to read these snippets that supposedly give you insight into the world. They don’t. Either way, I wish I could go back to my escapism of youth.
Now, I am going to admit something. I love the movie Dirty Dancing. I’ve seen that movie at least once a year. There’s no such book for me.
I do believe that when younger, I re-read Catcher in the Rye. I actually liked it. I would re-read Random Family despite it being over 1,000 pages. Unbelievebly well-captured non-fiction of a community in the early ’80s and early ’90s. I’m also willing, in theory, to re-read all the Harry Potter books in the series. I think the book Salt is important to understand and perhaps re-read.
With that said, I think I will get a bew book and give it a try. Any good suggestions welcomed. Perhaps it is time for me to go back to my childhood, exploratory times.

I do not read fiction books, and I am a WWII aficionado, so that is the subject I read the most. There is a book called “Flight to Arras”, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, about a reconnaissance mission he flew, during the German invasion of France. I re-read that book more times than I care to remember. It is about war and the futile effort to stop the nazis, but it was written poetically, after all, it is Saint-Exupéry.

I rarely reread a book. There are so many I haven’t gotten to, yet! I don’t think I’d dare make a recommendation, not knowing what kind of book you might be looking for. I read very broadly, though do gravitate more to some genres than others. It does help both to reflect on the world and the human condition, but also to block it out for a little while. Happy reading!

Have you read any books by Malcolm Gladwell ? They’re non-fiction but he tackles really interesting subjects….my favorite is Outliers. Do you have a favorite hobby or activity you’re interested in or maybe a place you want to visit in the future, perhaps start there

Most definitely! He is a social psychologist as I am. Love his books. I have not yet read outliers. Will do so now. Thx!

There aren’t many books I’ve read more than once. I read “The Lord of the Rings” twice, I think, and I’ve made a couple of passes through all the Rex Stout “Nero Wolfe” books, but that’s about it …

Ooh, I hope it’s the old A&E series with Timothy Hutton and Maury Chaykin ― that’s the best adaptation I’ve seen!
