We are in a solar minimum while I await the locusts

Let’s be real. The year 2020 hasn’t been ideal nor all that great. Who am I kidding? The year 2020 has been a disaster with one horrible event to the other. Every month seemed to bring up some worse event. And, it really doesn’t seem like it will let up anytime soon.

At this point, I truly believe locusts will befall upon us. Thankfully those murder hornets have stayed at bay. For now. But surely the locusts are coming. I feel like we are living through that scene in The Mummy where the ten plagues of Egypt are being released. I know that others must also wonder, like I do, what’s next?

Well, apparently we are in a solar minimum. Nothing to be alarmed about, according to experts. However, I was slightly amused by the concept and the fact that we are in one. During a solar minimum, the sun is much quieter, meaning less sunspots and energy. Ok. That doesn’t sound so bad. The sun wants to be more introspective, mind you. NASA tweeted out to reassure us all we should expect less space weather events but no impact on global temperatures. I’m not too sure I am reassured based on how 2020 has gone thus far.

I’ll believe NASA when they say there is nothing to worry about. However, it seems we are going from one disaster movie to the next. We’ve lived through contagion. May experience The Mummy and maybe we will experience in some way the Day After Tommorrow. Stock up on pest spray and tinder.
