You live in darkness

Not a bitter heart

Not a hardened bone

You’ve been tickled pink

You’ve danced a mighty step

You are not dark

You can love

Yet you live in darkness

Fear, all consuming

The shades are down

The mufflers lessening the noise

Tired worn paths provide comfort

Everything for appearance sake

You live in an unforgiving darkness

The lack of sunlight unrelenting

Unrepentant

The blinders can’t be tossed

They are sewn into your skin

Sadly you will not even peek

You alone can pull back the curtain

Don’t let the darkness hold you

There’s nothing left for me to do

Your darkness is yours
