There’s a particular kind of person who walks into a room and immediately assumes it’s a stage.
Not a room. Not a shared space. A stage.
They talk the loudest, interrupt the fastest, and laugh the hardest, usually at their own comments. There’s a kind of performance happening. A confidence that suggests charm, wit, presence.
Except.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth no one has told them. Volume is not charisma. Dominance is not charm. And repeating your own joke does not, in fact, make it funnier.
As a social psychologist, I’m always struck by this gap between self-perception and reality. We tend to think of charisma as something you project outward such as energy, humor, and presence. But real charisma is actually relational. It’s about how other people feel around you.
Do they feel seen? Included? At ease?
Or are they quietly checking the exits while you monologue?
Because there’s a difference between owning a conversation and holding it hostage.
And the irony is almost painful. The harder someone tries to dominate a space, the less room there is for the very thing that makes people engaging. Responsiveness. Curiosity. Timing. The ability to read a room instead of just filling it.
Not everyone who thinks they’re charming is.
And not everyone who’s funny actually is.
In fact, sometimes the loudest person in the room isn’t the most entertaining.
They’re just the hardest to ignore.
Which, to be fair, is a kind of skill.
Just not the one they think it is.

No Greater Fame or Fortune than a
Small Child Sharing a Warm and
Giggling Smile with another Child
Indeed as they Sing in Days of
Old and Hopefully New Bless
The Beasts
And Children
Loving Peacefully Free
Dear Miriam Yet Alas
Spoon Fed From
Birth ‘Tablets’
replacing

warm
Breathing Children
So the Literature Goes
“All the World’s A Stage”
Indeed there is Main Character
Energy Either Painted Orange and
Blonde in Selfish Greedy Fool’s Gold
Ah Yes as the Villain Archetype without
Empathy and Compassion Past Vapid Souls
Returns again in the Revelation of Humans Not so Kind
And then there is the Main Character Energy of the Hero with Empathy
so Immense the pain and pleasure of Others cannot be divided into Us or Them
However With
Compassion
Empathy
becomes
a Safer Distance
Not to Be Drained away
Meanwhile the Villain Relies on
A Constant Feed of Support from
so-called Mythological yet Real Minions
Who Thrive off Emotions of Control Namely
Fear
Anger
And Hate
of Different
In Fact Not Only
Will Someone Shoot
someone on 5th avenue
and still be supported
True Saint Will
Become Sinner
As Even the Main Character
Energy at the Top in a Mix
of Hero and Villain Both
May Love You Forever
even if you are the
Enemy and
Turn the Other
Cheek whenever
Praise and Worship does not come
on the Other Hand get the Main Character
Hero Energy in a Bad Mood and Look Out
They Transform You From Once Loyal Do
Gooding Sheep into Adversary Goats
And Burn You Forever for
Not Feeding the Poor
Immigrants at
the Southern
Border no Matter
Where the Border
Comes or Goes
Yet Wait!
they need
rehabilitation the Most!
Oh What Weak Main Character
Energy that is Yet never the less
It’s already Proven to work in a scale
as small
as 5th Avenue too
You Know what Dear Miriam
That All Just Sounds Insane
And Too Bad to Be True
And That’s Why the
Hell with the
World’s Stage
i’ll remain a Child
Dance Without Lessons
And Sing Never Planning

Next
New Note Now
Hehe Have a nice day
