What positive events have taken place in your life over the past year?
In the tapestry of a challenging year, where shadows cast their long stretches, there are threads of light that weave through the fabric of our lives. As I reflect on the past twelve months, a mix of heartbreak and resilience, I find solace in the positive events that whispered hope amidst the trials.
First and foremost, the milestone of my son turning 15 became an unexpected journey of celebration. In a spontaneous twist of fate, we found ourselves in Guatemala, marking the occasion in a place where the air was infused with adventure and the echoes of laughter lingered in the vibrant streets. It was a reminder that joy can bloom unexpectedly, even in the midst of uncertainty.
Amidst the challenges, there emerged a tale of canine courage. My loyal companion, recovering from a leg operation, embarked on a journey of resilience. Each day, as he became more and more “hugable,” the simple act of embracing him became a poignant reminder of the healing power of time and love. In the midst of my own struggles, his recovery became a beacon of hope.
My own surgery, a moment suspended between vulnerability and strength, unfolded smoothly. It was a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of finding silver linings in the midst of medical challenges. The echoes of recovery became a melody of gratitude, a quiet hymn sung in the corridors of healing.
And then, a stroke of artistic brilliance illuminated our path. My son, with a burgeoning talent, had his first art gallery showing. Witnessing his growth as an artist became a source of immense pride and joy. Each stroke of his brush echoed a narrative of progress, a testament to the transformative power of creativity.
In the tapestry of life’s challenges, these positive events stand as testament to the resilience of the human spirit. They remind us that even in the face of heartbreak, there are moments of celebration, recovery, and growth. As we tread into the unknown of the upcoming year, these threads of light will guide us forward, a constellation of hope in the vast expanse of our journey.

Thanks. Hanging in there. Plotting is the trickiest part of my writing, because my damaged brain needs to connect a LOT of information to make sure everything – timelines, calendar, location in the world – works out BEFORE I attempt to turn it into literary mainstream fiction. Mostly because the fiction part is a huge amount of work – and I don’t want any of that wasted on the wrong ‘facts.’
