In New York City pigeons are everywhere. And, they have no fear. They will boldly crap on you. Yes! You must always be on the lookout for being crapped upon. If you are wearing a white trenchcoat totally expect to be crapped on. Also, be prepared to accidently step in crap. Could be dog, pigeon or human.
As you walk about, you may also notice benches spotted and dotted with pigeon crap. Furthermore, any statue that is standing is bound to be covered in pigeon crap. We’ve become inured to it all in certain respects.
And, that is where we find ourselves. We sometimes are the pigeon. Other times we are the statue. Neither state of being is necessarily healthy.

I just want the pigeons NOT to nest on my balcony. They are beautiful birds but they will just not SHUT UP. And I spend my life as a novelist by that window.

I actually love pigeons, especially when I’m some place in Europe and I can see them on the clay roof tiles or in a plaza. I love watching their relationships. But you make a valid point.
