The passing of time is supposed to help you move on. I’m not too sure about that.
“Unfortunately, the clock is ticking, the hours are going by. The past increases, the future recedes. Possibilities decreasing, regrets mounting.” – Haruki Murakami
I look back and feel sadness. Time passes in bits and pieces. One can tune some sadness out. Eventually, however, it catches up with you in a random moment.
The passing of time doesn’t mean the pain goes away. It softens, sometimes. Other times, the pain is sharp. A day of the storm can come at any point. A day of rainbows can occasionally shine on.

I can’t say it any better than Alicia above.

Grief has no timetable, no ‘should’, no endpoint. Never had, never will.
It is an indelible part of being human.
But it does change, round, give respites – but not predictably. If it is not bearable, find help for a while, but it is another side of love, and we need it.
Just don’t judge.
