A lie may take care of the present but it has no future

I’m going to go out on a limb and note that I cannot stand lies. We all lie. Small lies. Big lies. Whoppers. Lies that have little to no consequences (other than to your conscience) and lies that have a major butterfly effect. As someone out in the universe noted “a lie may take care of the present but it has no future”.

Lies mean you have an extra thing to remember. And, I for sure am running out of mental space. As Mark Twain noted “if you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.”

I lie. Of course, I do. We all do. However, throughout this pandemic I’ve become even more aware of how lies impact us adversely. Whether it was about how long this would last, or how we are coping with it.

What caught my attention were the types of lies that are told and to what purpose. Some just want to deceive themselves. Others want to soften a hard blow. Some wanted to appear strong.
