Decluttering the Circus of Chaos: An Irreverent Guide to Clearing the Mind

Where can you reduce clutter in your life?

Ah, clutter – the stuff that piles up like a bad roommate who doesn’t put away the dishes, eats your food, and leaves the remnants on the counter. That kind of sounds like my dog and I totally don’t mean him. But I digress.

But what is clutter, really? It’s not just a mountain of papers or ancient banking statements that have been hanging around since the Y2K scare. And, yes, I have those. Someday, I will get through all that. But not today. And, I digress yet again.

Clutter can be an unruly tenant in the mind, a cacophony of racing thoughts doing the conga line in your brain, and trust me, that’s not great for your health or your beating heart. At times, my sitting heart rate has surpassed 120. But you don’t want to know about that. I think. But, maybe?

Picture this: it’s 3 am, the world is asleep, but your mind is having a relentless dance party. Racing thoughts RSVP’d without asking, and now you’re stuck dealing with an impromptu anxiety rager. That’s the kind of clutter that sneaks into your headspace, uninvited and unwelcome. It’s time to kick out the unwanted guests and give your mind the eviction notice it deserves.

Now, let’s talk about the clutter that wears a human disguise – toxic people. They’re the ones who take up way too much space in your life, like the nosy neighbor who overstays their welcome. Some are outright nasty, wearing their toxicity like a badge of honor. Strangely, that’s the easier clutter to deal with – cut them out like a bad cable subscription.

But beware of the sheep in wolves’ clothing, the ones who smile while sharpening knives behind their backs. They’re the silent clutter, the kind that creeps into your life like a stealthy cat burglar. It’s time to play detective, unmask the impostors, and declutter your social scene like Marie Kondo on a mission or better yet, Clarice Starling. The two don’t go together but they do. Do you still hear the lambs?

And then, there’s the grandmaster of clutter – the liar and their tower of lies. It’s like living in a house of cards, waiting for the inevitable collapse. Don’t be a hoarder of falsehoods. Take a deep breath, channel your inner Sherlock, and start rummaging through the deceit. Free yourself from the weight of lies, and your mind, body, and soul will throw a collective thank-you party.

So, as we confront the clutter in our lives, let’s remember: it’s okay to be a phony, as long as it’s authentically you. Ha! So says popular culture. Check out an early blog of mine te years ago.

Anyway, kick out the racing thoughts, show toxic people the exit, unmask the wolves in sheep’s clothing, and dismantle the tower of lies. Your clutter-free existence awaits, and trust me, it’s a heck of a lot more spacious and entertaining than the circus of chaos clutter brings. Let the purge begin.
