I was warned
I was scolded
I was schooled
Yet, I remained a fool
I thought I was magical
I thought I was a catalyst
I thought I was persuasive
Yet, I only heard advice that was dissuasive
I didn’t listen
I didn’t move on
I didn’t take heed
Yet, I felt I could stay at full speed
How wrong it all was
How wrong it all felt
How wrong that I was wronged
Yet, I waited till I no longer belonged
I should have listened
I should have left when you told me to
I should have not tried to be strong
Yet, now I know and will no longer be wronged
