Monday Musings: Cinco de Mayo, Bait-and-Switch Blues, and a Tap Dance of Hope

It’s Monday. Again. The eternal return. The alarm clock’s betrayal. The caffeine scramble. That moment you look in the mirror and say, “Is this the week I finally catch up… or unravel spectacularly with flair?”

But lo and behold—it’s Cinco de Mayo! And while I’m not a margarita girl (don’t @ me, tequila lovers), I am very much into the whole idea of revelry, resilience, and dancing through the mess. Cinco de Mayo adds a little confetti to an otherwise cold-hearted calendar square.

Also, it’s May. Which, in my world, means Birthday Month, Mother’s Day Month, and excuse-for-extra-desserts Month. It’s the month where I feel justified in being just a little louder, a little prouder, and a whole lot more indulgent. I’m basically a walking fiesta with a to-do list.

Now back to Monday. You know how some Mondays are a bait-and-switch? Like they pretend they’ll be manageable—maybe even promising—and then boom: inbox explosions, surprise meetings, and mysterious printer malfunctions? Yeah. That.

But today, I’m daring to believe it’s a bait-and-tap dance instead. A little misdirection, a little sparkle, a little heel-clicking joy in spite of it all.

So whether you’re sipping something fruity or just surviving with sass, let’s take this Monday for what it is: a slightly chaotic kickoff to a month worth celebrating.

Here’s to making it through—with or without a lime.
