I believe that if life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade… And try to find somebody whose life has given them vodka, and have a party.” –Ron White
I have always found the old adage of taking lemons and turning it into lemonade to be a bit trite. Sure, one should try to make the best of a situation. However, sometimes you can’t and the situation will just suck. And, that’s when you are either told to “suck it up” or “it is, what it is”. Just this morning I told a colleague just that. There really was not much one could do. Just had to let the situation play out.
Now, I like Ron White’s quote above because it’s more fun. Sure, make lemonade out of lemons. Turn a bad situation into an opportunity. However, what if you just don’t make lemonade but go a step above with the help of a friend?
