Snoop Dogg and Mark Twain wisdom

It’s been a random day. It’s been a bit bizarre. It’s been bewildering. To celebrate such a day, here are a few words of wisdom.

“When angry, count to four. When very angry, swear.” Mark Twain

“Stay away from negative people. They have a problem for every solution” Snoop Dogg

“If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything” – Mark Twain

“If it’s flipping hamburgers at McDonald’s, be the best hamburger flipper in the world. Whatever it is you do you have to master your craft.” Snoop

“I have been through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened” Mark Twain

“You’ve got to always go back in time if you want to move forward.” – Snoop

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain

“Sometimes a loss is the best thing that can happen. It teaches you what you should have done next time.” Snoop Dogg

“When people do not respect us we are sharply offended; yet in his private heart no man much respects himself”” Mark Twain

  1. “I have been through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened” Mark Twain – This is why I’m a writer. I can survive these terrible things, one of which I’m writing about now. Thanks for the reminder!

This one is my problem: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain – because I didn’t do a lot of things I thought might KEEP me from reaching my current age, NOW I regret not doing them. But from the point of having survived life. Always too sensible to sail away from the safe harbor the way he meant.

I did a whole lot of things that other people considered unsafe or unsuitable – such as getting a PhD in Nuclear Engineering, and applying to – and almost getting into – the astronaut program. But they were all more calculated risks, and no one would have even questioned a MAN doing what I did.

Just wish I’d had a lot more fun – I was always studying or working toward the future, and then chronic illness ripped everything away at once.
