Many people suffer the Monday blues. Many people work to pay bills and many people wish they could stay home with their loved ones instead. Monday starts off the week and depending on your point of view can portend both good and bad things. To keep the blues at bay, I worked out this morning, listening to my music, trying to keep hope alive but knowing full well, the blues can certainly make an appearance.
Did you know that Bob Geldof, who spearheaded the feel-good Live Aid, wrote “I Don’t like Mondays”? Let me share one other tidbit with you. Wednesdays can actually be the most depressing day of the week instead of Mondays. There actually may be more suicides on Wednesdays than on Mondays. The middle of the week brings many stressors; particularly that feeling that there is still much to accomplish but less time to do so.
One good thing about the anticipation of the Monday Blues, is that I ran hard on my machine this morning. I burned off a lot of calories. Which is good considering that sometimes I eat my frustrations. But I am trying not to because nothing is worth all that weight gain.
Below is a music smash, that I wish I could create if I were a DJ. These are lyrics from some of the songs that powered me through this morning and got me ready for the day.
I’m waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Ooh woo, I’m a rebel just for kicks, now
Is this the way it’s really going down?
I don’t like your little games
Frankly, Mr. Shankly, this position I’ve held
It pays my way, and it corrodes my soul
The haters are gonna hate
Shake it off
I got a list of names
It might seem crazy what I am about to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa oh
