I should know better

I should know better

And indeed, I do

But yet, I don’t know better

And, I know I should

I should know better

But I do the opposite

Fully aware

I’m not doing better

It’s the same old story

Time should know better

But it cheats me

As I can’t rewind

Here I go again

I look in the mirror

Shame shows its face

But shame knows no shame

I should know better

But there I go again

Next time I will do better

Until I don’t

  1. Not to get spooky religious on you, but that poem is a bit reminiscent of something written by the apostle Paul… I think in the book of Romans.

  2. So wonderfully simple in subject and style as to give it the truest skill

“And so carved on the gravestone ‘If only he knew better’ followed by the words ‘You would not be reading this today’!”
