What exactly is Tuesday?
Monday has an identity. Monday is the beginning. The alarm clock. The coffee. The collective sigh of here we go again.
Wednesday is Hump Day. It has branding.
Thursday is Friday Eve, which is apparently close enough to the weekend to celebrate.
Friday? Friday doesn’t need an explanation. Friday is Friday. It walks into the room wearing sunglasses at 10 a.m. and nobody questions it.
Saturday and Sunday obviously have their own thing going on.
But Tuesday?
Tuesday is the forgotten child of the week.
Nobody says, “Thank God it’s Tuesday!”
Nobody has invented a Tuesday Eve.
There are no Tuesday parties.
No one is counting down to Tuesday.
Tuesday simply arrives.
And maybe that’s the point.
Tuesday is the day when the week has officially begun but hasn’t yet offered you anything in return.
You’ve recovered from Monday.
You’re not close enough to Friday to start mentally checking out.
So perhaps Tuesday’s job is simply to exist.
Settle in.
Do the work.
Drink the coffee.
Answer the emails.
Maybe accomplish something.
Maybe don’t.
Tuesday doesn’t demand a dramatic beginning or a triumphant finish.
It’s just there, quietly holding the middle together while everyone else gets the attention.
And honestly?
There is something psychologically appealing about that.
Not every day needs to be exciting.
Not every day needs a theme.
Not every day needs to be Friday.
Sometimes you just have to be Tuesday.
Which, when you think about it, is probably a pretty good life philosophy.
Just be.
Preferably with coffee.
And then tomorrow, we hit the midweek mark.
