Podcasts? No Thanks, I’m Already in Too Many Meetings

What podcasts are you listening to?

Let me just put this out there: I don’t listen to podcasts. Nope. Nada. Not even when the universe nudges me with “Oh, you have to hear this one!” Do I? Really?

Look, I’m in meetings all day long—work, Zoom, the “let’s circle back” kind of stuff that has me longing for an eject button. So why on earth would I want to pop in some earbuds and listen to a podcast that feels suspiciously like…another meeting? Sorry, but no. I’d rather blast some music and pretend I’m on stage, not in a boardroom.

The funny thing is, people have suggested I start my own podcast. Like, what would my gimmick be? A podcast about the random, wild ride that is the day in the life of Mimi? Trust me, I’ve got stories. Oh boy, do I have stories! But still, would anyone want to listen to me riff about all the bizarre things that happen to me on a daily basis? Maybe…or maybe not.

I suppose I could give it a shot and listen to one first—ease myself into this world everyone’s raving about. But honestly, I’m just not sold. Until a podcaster comes along who’s got more than meeting vibes, I’ll stick with music, thank you very much.

  2. I agree with you. I tried once to listen to one, and there were so many commercials, and pleas for money, that by the time they got around talking about whatever subject I was wanting to hear, I was already tired of them. Never wanted to try another one. 🙂

  3. I can’t parse the random nature of podcasts – I need the transcript. It does nothing but annoy me when random people talk to the moderator about random things, all the while with me trying to find some useful content.

Podcast are ROUGH FIRST DRAFTS, if that, of content. A thirty minute podcast will end up being a single page of useful something. Radio is almost as bad.

Podcast are LAZY – easy for the ‘creators’ joking and futzing around, hard on the poor listeners. A complete waste of my time (and that covers almost every single Youtube content video).

    NO THANKS!

I write my show notes to be short, interesting and persuasive. just hit the play button and enjoy. just 15 to 30 minutes of a classic, old-time, entertainment, music, comedy, mysteries, westerns, and more. you have your choice of two episodes every day. there’s a player on every page, entertainment is just one click away.
