What motivates you?
So, here’s one for the books—or the afterlife? A woman in the UK recently made headlines for marrying a ghost, yes, a full-fledged, can’t-even-say-he-has-cold-feet ghost. She claims they met during a spectral speed dating event. Move over, Tinder; the afterlife is swiping right. Now, I’m not here to judge, but I can’t help but feel this is taking the idea of “phantom lover” a bit too literally.
This story got me thinking about the times I’ve written about the choices we make in life, those quirky, unexpected detours. Remember when I blogged about taking the scenic route rather than the fastest path? Well, this lady might be taking the ultimate scenic route… right through the haunted house. But who am I to tell her what route to take?
In life, we all have our ghostly regrets—choices that haunt us. Whether it’s that one job we didn’t take, the relationship we left, or the ice cream we didn’t order (seriously, always order the ice cream). But what if, instead of being haunted by our past, we embraced it, just like our friend in the UK has embraced her, er, husband?
Life, like love, is full of unexpected twists. Sometimes, we must make peace with our ghosts, literal or metaphorical. So, the next time you’re feeling spooked by past choices, take a page out of this woman’s book. Marry your ghosts, metaphorically speaking. Dance with them, learn from them, and then, maybe, just maybe, let them rest in peace.
Until the next wacky tale, stay spirited!
