Spring Fever: Sneezes, Sneak Peeks, and New Beginnings

What is your favorite season of year? Why?

Ah, the perennial question: what is your favorite season of the year? For me, it’s spring. And no, it’s not just because I’m a spring baby, though that certainly adds a nostalgic charm. Spring, to me, symbolizes rejuvenation. It’s the season when the world seems to shake off its winter slumber, flowers bloom, and people start thinking about spring cleaning—out with the old, in with the new. There’s an inherent optimism in the air, a sense of fresh beginnings.

However, let’s not gloss over the less romantic side of spring: allergies. Yes, those delightful little pollens that turn my mornings into a sneeze fest. But hey, nothing says “I’m alive” quite like sneezing seventeen times in a row before breakfast. Spring is Mother Nature’s way of reminding us that beauty comes with a price, usually in the form of itchy eyes and a red nose.

Then there’s summer. Summer is all about fun. Beaches, barbecues, and those long, lazy days that stretch into warm, starlit nights. But if I’m honest, summer feels a bit like a season of lost opportunities. Maybe that says more about me and my relentless drive to make the most of every moment. I should learn to chill—literally and figuratively. Especially since summer also blesses me with heat rashes. Nothing says “fun in the sun” like desperately searching for shade and calamine lotion.

So, while summer is about fun (and heat rashes), spring remains my favorite. It’s a season of balance, where rejuvenation meets the reality of allergies, and new beginnings outshine the past. Plus, quirky fact: did you know that in Japan, they celebrate spring by having cherry blossom festivals, known as Hanami? It’s all about appreciating the fleeting beauty of the blossoms. Maybe that’s a lesson for us all—appreciate the beauty, even if it makes you sneeze.
