The last few months have not been great months for me healthwise. I’ve been to specialist after specialist with no definitive findings and relatively little concern from the providers. Empathy fatigue is a real thing out there. However, I will not vent about that any further. Just riles me up more, and I need to be less stressed out.
I’m here to write about two things I love eating: broccoli and blueberries. And, guess what! They are supetfoods. They are nutrient rich and fairly good for a person’s health. In particular, blueberries.
I woke up this morning hungry, craving broccoli and blueberries. Now you don’t normally think of combining these two foods in a dish. Or at least I don’t. However, I’m not a chef nor really much of a cook.
I did go and search out recipes, and lo and behold, there were several, many being that of salads. I know I haven’t seen such a combination in the restaurants I tend to frequent. Thus, I’ll have to see if I can motivate myself to make one of these recipes. Bearing in mind, I’m a bit skeptical on how the two would taste together.
I found a broccoli bluebbery salad that may address my skepticism. I found it at cooknourishbliss website
FOR THE SALAD:
8 cups bite-sized broccoli florets (that are roasted in the oven)
2 tablespoons olive oil
¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
½ cup raw almonds, roughly chopped
½ cup thinly sliced green onion
1 cup fresh blueberries
FOR THE DRESSING:
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons pure maple syrup
2 teaspoons dijon mustard
¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
pinch of pepper
I’m hoping before I give it a go, if anyone out there has tried, that they can let me know their thoughts on it.
I’m of the belief that more often than not, if your body is craving something, it is because your body needs it. Hence, I’ll have to make it a B and B day somehow.

That’s the kind of question I might ask an AI expert system: what’s wrong when I crave broccoli AND blueberries?
Lots of things come to mind, but if the expert system could include other stuff going on in your life, maybe that information would be key. Off the top of my head: are you getting enough Vitamin C? Or enough sunlight?
Do you have too much cortisol – after the stress you’ve been through and still have to negotiate – and is there something these brightly-colored vegetable/fruit ingredients have (phytochemicals?)? Or something that could make your sleep – which all this has stressed out – better?
I don’t know if there is an answer, but maybe your body’s wisdom knows. We still don’t know everything, but bodies have the survival accumulation of eons.
Give in – and eat the stuff.
