Excitedly it is the year of the rat and corresponding optimism

The Chinese new year is here. The year 2020 is the year of the rat. Mine, is a rat family. Thus, it must be our year, right? I do believe it will be despite suffering from flu, getting stitches and surviving a car crash thus far this year. But that is a story for another time and unbelievably I’m still optimistic.

This is my year or so I will strive towards it. Luckily, Newsweek and other entities agree. Notably, 2020 the yearvof the rat, will be a year of renewal and rejuvenation, and a chance “to turn unfortunate events into fortunate ones.” Many are counting on me to do just that. No pressure. Well, the rat is on my side.

It’s a good year to be back in New York and maybe pizza rat will make a new pop culture appearance. The year of the rat is a perfect time for a New Yorker. Apparently, according to Newsweek rats are associated with the hour right before and right after midnight. I suppose that is the witching hour for rats. Although, in New York rats rule at all hours of the day.

Because of their association with the midnight hour, rats typically represent new beginnings. And those born in a year of the rat are optimistic, direct in nature, and kind. I havd no idea how those supposed characteristics came about. But I’ll go with it. Here’s to a year of growth and rejuvenation.
