Some days I wake up, skim a few “news” articles (and I’m using the term as loosely) and I’m greeted with a new trend. Apparently, women are ditching their pants. Lauren Sánchez. Sabrina Carpenter. Miley Cyrus. Wait. She ever wore pants? A whole parade of famous folks are supposedly strolling around like they forgot laundry day. And I’m sitting here wondering did they ditch all bottoms? Or are we just talking about switching from pants to dresses? Because if so, I ditch pants 95% of the time. I’m a dress girl. If someone snapped a candid photo of me on the subway, tomorrow’s headline could easily be “Local Woman Abandons Pants, Society Reels ” Clickbait, yes. Technically not wrong.
But the world is so topsy-turvy these days that I wouldn’t even blink if a celebrity went full Winnie-the-Pooh at a red carpet event. I mean, remember Kanye’s latest wife/girlfriend/placeholder (who can keep track?) showing up essentially naked and everyone whispering, “Is she okay?” Meanwhile, men? Are they ditching pants too? Would anyone notice? Or would the internet shrug and move on because only women’s legs are considered headline material?
Honestly, why do I even bother glancing at the news scroll? I’m trying to understand global events, and instead I’m getting served existential questions about celebrity kneecaps and breathable fabrics. Really?
Ok. That’s all I have to say. I’m signing off now. I have to catch up on sleep. I can tell you already. I’ll be pant-less tomorrow. That’s right. Ill be writing my purple polka dot dress. Ha!
