First off—I made it! I finally got away on a trip this year, and let me tell you, it was glorious.
Barbados greeted me with all the heat my warmth-craving soul could ask for. Bonus: no hurricanes in sight! Typically, I’m the queen of travel snafus, but this time? I was upgraded to a pod seat, where I could actually lie flat and sleep. Is this what luxury feels like? Yes, please!
Barbados didn’t disappoint. I kicked things off with a tour of Mount Gay Rum Distillery, where I wore a hard hat (feeling official!) and indulged in some delicious spirits. If you’ve never had a rum education while in a hard hat, I highly recommend it.
Then came the nature reserve, where I hung out with a crew of tortoises and some divine monkeys. Monkeys that know how to live—free, mischievous, and completely charming.
Furthermore, I explored 9 out of the 11 parishes (because why not?), and even squeezed in some beach time. My Fitbit? 7,000 steps a day—thank you, Barbados!
The people were incredibly kind, always going out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and happy. And the food? Let’s just say I’m still dreaming about it.
Now, I’m back, already plotting my next escape. Where to next? The travel bug has bitten again, and I’m not complaining!
