It’s 2 AM, and here I am, watching “Revenge” for the second time in seven months. Yep, that’s right, twice. Apparently, the first go-around wasn’t enough of a cautionary tale about how revenge plots can spiral out of control—much like my sleep schedule.
Let’s be real. We all know the drill: you start with one episode, just a taste, and before you know it, you’re knee-deep in Emily Thorne’s vendetta, wide-eyed, and it’s almost dawn. By now, I could probably write a thesis on the psychology of vengeance, but that won’t help me get some shut-eye.
So there I am, watching the same characters make the same mistakes, and my brain decides it’s the perfect time to go into overdrive. Racing thoughts? Check. What-ifs? Check. A mental to-do list so long it’s practically scrolling like the end credits? Double check.
Here’s the kicker: I know I should just turn off the TV, but there’s something oddly comforting about the familiar chaos on-screen. It’s like my brain says, “If Emily can scheme her way through the Hamptons, you can surely figure out how to fall asleep, right?”
Wrong.
So what more can I do at 2 AM, other than pretend I’m not a night owl in an endless loop of TV drama? Maybe try deep breathing, meditate, count sheep—whatever. But who am I kidding? By now, I’m too wired to do anything but ponder life’s mysteries, like why I can’t just conk out like a normal person.
Maybe tonight, I’ll finally outsmart my own insomnia. Or maybe, I’ll just embrace the madness and settle in for another episode. Because sometimes, the only thing worse than sleepless nights is giving up on the distraction that keeps them bearable.

WHEN you get to bed, do not tell yourself how horrible you are and how you should have done differently. That’s stressful. Tell your brain you MAY discuss it later, when rested – or NOT.
Then I proceed to get as comfortable as possible, and start simply counting breaths.
The key is not to stress – angst makes it worse. And ANY time you spend comfortably as possible in bed, with your eyes closed, and no music, is a LOT better than not, so you ARE resting, and that counts.
After years of telling myself this, it ALWAYS works – and you wouldn’t want my broken nights, but the rest is real, and I often fall asleep multiple times.
