Summer is peeking around the corner, and with it comes the anticipation of ice cream sandwiches that melt faster than my resolve to avoid them. Picture it: sticky fingers and a race against time to enjoy every last bite before it becomes a puddle of sweet regret.
Walking in the summer sun sounds idyllic until you realize it’s a marathon of perspiration. Ah, the joys of being perpetually glistening, as if nature decided you should live in a sauna. Yet, as I stroll through my yard, I’m reminded of the Herculean tasks awaiting me—mowing, weeding, and more mowing. Who knew grass could grow this fast?
And then there are the daydreams of exotic villas. I can see myself lounging by a pristine pool, sipping something cold and fruity. Reality check: my travel plans extend no further than my backyard, where a kiddie pool and lemonade will have to suffice. But hey, dreams are free, right?
The soundtrack to summer is another mystery. What will be *the* song we all belt out, off-key, while stuck in traffic or firing up the grill? Until that anthem reveals itself, I’ll be singing a medley of past summer hits, blissfully unaware of the lyrics but full of enthusiasm.
Summer also means a new level of sleep deprivation. Between late sunsets, barbecues, and the siren call of the ice cream truck, who has time for sleep? My yard and I share the same exhausted look by August, both a little worse for wear but still standing.
So here’s to a summer of melting treats, sweaty strolls, unfulfilled travel fantasies, and endless work. May we embrace the chaos with laughter, knowing that these are the moments we’ll nostalgically recount—until next summer sneaks up on us again.

I love summer, the long days, the more relaxed atmosphere, the endless possibilities and of course ice cream…. I swear I could eat ice cream or a milkshake every day in the summertime but rarely do I indulge at other times of year
