What is the most important thing to carry with you all the time?
Of course, as you go through the day to day hustle and bustle in a city such as New York, you have to always worry about what you have on you. I’m serious. You need pepper spray, water, earphones, change for random street stuff, and of course, an ID card.
I know someone who sadly died while out jogging. They were not identified for days because they weren’t carrying any identification cards while running. I know that it is morbid, but ever since then I always want to make sure there’s a way to identify me. And don’t think for a second that they would readily be able to do it from your phone. Almost every jogger I see in the morning, for sure, has their phone on their person.
However, in thinking about what one needs to always have on them, I’m going to mention something non-material. Assume you have an ID card on you. What you should always have on you is your dignity. Always remember your dignity and have it front and center. Be proud. Stand tall. Act in an ethical manner. I always say I walk to make my my mother proud.
