What’s the story behind your nickname?
My mother named me after my aunt. When they were both young kids, my aunt saved my mother from drowning. I believe that thereafter, my mother not only felt indebted to her but also felt a lot of respect towards her. To honor and acknowledge my aunt’s role in my mother’s life, my mother named me after my aunt the hero.
I’m happy to be named after a personal hero. Happy my mother, and I felt so moved. Till this day, I don’t really know whether my aunt felt honored that I was named after her. I believe that she probably does.
Now, mind you, when I was very young, I did not like sharing a name. When trying to explain that distaste for the name, I dont know whether I would say my aunt knows or not. I try not to offend her by ever noting I’m not too fond of my name.
I am fond, however, of my nickname. I was especially fond as a child as it noted I was me, me. As a kid, I found that funny. As an adult, I’m bemused. Regardless, I got my nickname to differentiate me from my aunt. I just took that to me that I was just “mi.” I’m me, myself, and I. I’m distinct. I’m mimi.

Loved this! I actually have two nicknames that were given to me by two women I love terribly: Jaybird and Sweetpea. EVERY time, I use them, it feels like a hug from them. Makes me feel super loved.🥰❤
