A guilty conscience doesn’t go away overnight
No matter how much you whisper to your pillow
No matter how much you tear at the feathers
No matter how much you clench your fists
A guilty conscience will still gnaw at you
Even in a happy, random moment
Even in a trivial, quiet moment
Even in a chaotic, fervent moment
How nice it is
That you are still haunted
It needed to be said
A guilty conscience makes you visible
You cannot hide in your secluded tower
You cannot keep your head down forever
You cannot wish it all away
A guilty conscience makes you fearful
You may be keeping your head down
But our name flashes all over the ground
Even when you stomp on it
Our name is a dastardly ghost
Flashing neon under each of your footsteps
Your mighty guilty weight won’t erase it
And it comes with a serving of crow
Say our name
Say our name
It will burn your acid tongue
But you will free your mind just a little bit
