Sometimes, you just want the skies to open up. Not for the crops. Not for the garden. Not for poetic inspiration. Nope. I wanted rain for a perfectly selfish reason: to get out of an event.
You know the one. The kind of event where you don’t really want to say yes, but social pressure (and maybe snacks) make you RSVP anyway. So you start checking the weather app obsessively, clinging to the sweet, sweet hope of those little rain cloud icons. “50% chance of showers,” it whispered. Yes! That meant maybe, just maybe, I’d get my reprieve.
But alas, the clouds didn’t gather. No dramatic thunderclaps. No moody drizzle. Not even a mist. Just stubborn blue skies and a light breeze. The kind of weather that practically dares you to put on walking shoes and “go have fun.”
So I did. And here’s the kicker: I actually had fun. Ugh. There’s a cosmic lesson in there somewhere about not dodging life, about leaning into experiences, about how sometimes the very thing you tried to escape ends up being good for you. Fine. Lesson learned, Universe.
But next time? Just a sprinkle would be nice.
