What are your favorite animals?
Ah, the wild wonders of the animal kingdom – a topic that tugs at my whimsical heartstrings. Now, let’s get one thing straight from the start: dogs rule. I mean, who can resist those soulful eyes and wagging tails? I’m a proud canine enthusiast with two furry companions who’ve mastered the art of unconditional love.
But my affection for animals doesn’t stop at the doggy door. It extends to all creatures great and small. And here, I must share a delightful tale of my family’s fondness for penguins – those dapper, tuxedo-clad wonders of the avian world.
My son and late mother, bless their hearts, harbored a fascination with penguins that transcended the ordinary. To say my son has a collection of over 20 penguin stuffed animals would be an understatement; it’s more like a plush penguin army. Yet, it’s not just a quirky collection; it’s a testament to the shared joy these whimsical birds brought to our lives.
One of the pinnacle moments in our penguin-loving saga took place in Melbourne, where we were fortunate enough to witness the enchanting “March of the Penguins” at sundown. We were a small group of mesmerized onlookers, huddled in complete silence, as the penguins gracefully emerged from the water onto the sandy shore.
The air was charged with anticipation, the sky painting a canvas of hues that matched the penguins’ monochromatic elegance. As we sat there, holding my son’s hands, the silence was broken only by the gentle waddle of our tuxedo-clad hosts. It was a symphony of nature, a choreography that unfolded with the grace and precision of a well-rehearsed ballet.
In that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace. We were witnessing more than a wildlife spectacle; we were part of a shared experience that bridged generations and connected us to the rhythm of the natural world.
As I held my son’s hands, I couldn’t help but think of my mother, the matriarch of our penguin-loving legacy. It was a perfect convergence of past and present, a poignant reminder that our love for animals, be it furry companions or tuxedo-clad aviators, has a way of stitching beautiful memories into the fabric of our lives.
So here’s to dogs ruling our hearts and penguins waddling into our affections.

My husband and I are just like penguins, so much so our online gaming names are Mr. & Mrs. Fiery Penguin. The fact is that penguins mate for life, also whenever they have met the one for them, they offer their mate a pebble by nudging it over to them! So one time after a big fight my husband wrote me a letter and inside was a pebble!
