Beach or mountains? Which do you prefer? Why?
Ah, the age-old debate – beach or mountains? A question that has vacationers pondering, wanderers wandering, and someone like me torn between the siren call of the sun-soaked sand and the majestic allure of towering peaks.
Now, let’s talk beaches. Picture me, a lover of heat, basking in the sun’s warm embrace, though my eyes might shoot disapproving glares at its intense rays. Hawaii, oh dear Hawaii, you’ve spoiled me with your breathtaking beaches. But here’s the catch – I’m not one for lounging around like a sunbathing lizard. I’m a ball of frenetic energy; I need to move, to explore. Lying on a beach all day is as rare for me as finding a unicorn sipping a piña colada. Although, I might have seen such a thing once. I won’t tell you where.
But here’s the charm of the beach – the memories I’ve etched in the sands with my son and nieces. Flying kites that danced with the wind, crafting sandcastles that defied the tides, and feeling the cool embrace of the water. Those are the beach moments I adore, the ones that make the sun-soaked sand a canvas for laughter and shared adventures.
Now, let’s think about the mountains – those majestic titans that beckon with the promise of scenic hikes and soul-stirring vistas. I’m all in for the challenge, the exercise, the joy of walking up into the clouds. My recent escapade in Colombia gifted me a spectacular hike, a symphony of trees, plants, and flowers that left me in awe. But, and there’s always a “but,” insects seem to have a fondness for me that I can’t reciprocate. The number of bites on my legs could rival a modern art masterpiece. I just may have to showcase it at the MOMA.
So, beach or mountains? Why pick when you can have the best of both worlds in one day? I want it all – the warmth of the beach’s embrace and the exhilaration of climbing mountain trails. It’s not about choosing; it’s about savoring every flavor that life’s buffet has to offer.
In the end, it’s not about the destination; it’s about the stories etched in the sands and carved into the mountainsides. Whether I’m chasing waves or conquering peaks, I’m dancing to the rhythm of my own adventure, embracing the delightful dilemma of beaches, mountains, or both. After all, why settle for less when you can have the sun, the sand, the peaks, and the clouds? Here’s to the joy of having it all!

100% mountains. That said, the beach is like 5 minutes away and the mountains proper are an hour or so (California) so you can guess where we find ourselves more often …
