New York protests in the midst of a pandemic

New Yorkers love a parade. We host fabulous ones for which the world over tunes in. New Yorkers also do protests. Many. We are accustomed to being in cramped spaces with 100s of others. And, here we are now in the middle of a pandemic trying to protest within a public health framework. People are wearing masks. People are providing hand sanitizers. Helicopters keep watch from high above.

  1. As an extreme introvert, I’ve always been afraid of crowds. Of the unpredictable and dangerous possibilities in crowds.

Now they are doubly dangerous, as I’m in the vulnerable old/chronically ill cohort.

And I’m missing what’s going on in my own world.

I feel so guilty that others are taking the risks for me.
