I’m quickly rising up high
But speedily sinking deep into my seat
The surrounding sounds frighten me
My beating heart has overtaken my senses
I breathe in wondering if others feel as I do
I just see my fear on their faces
I’m sinking deeper and deeper
My lips bloat and quiver
Find me a battle cry
Pass the whiskey neat
Listen to the banshee
Lower the pretenses
The stomach butterflies wiggle and chew
Asking for good graces
I’m sinking deeper and deeper
Swimming upstream the fearful river
Must stop, rise and punch the fear away
Must not succumb to dizziness
Pluck out the stings
