It shouldn’t be that a child wipes away the tears off his mother’s cheek
It shouldn’t be that a doggie licks away his best friend’s hands covered in fallen tears
The salt of the earth to be felt in the moment
Nightmares of old, disturbing the daylight hours
Passions long gone infringing upon the consciousness bubble
Righteously yielded sticks bursting the veil of serenity
Breath in the calm waters
And the bright orange morning dew
Ahead life’s inevitable violence is churning up a fierce storm

Great poem. I’ve definately had those “calm before the storm”-moments and you describe that perfectly!
