No, the high heel is still here

I love high heels. For work. However, out on cobblestone streets or potholed New York City streets, high heels are a bit impractical. I laugh a little bit when I see women wobbling in 5-inch heels on the Brooklyn Pier. Why do people subject themselves to that? I know many of us saw Carrie Bradshaw doing it all the time on Sex in the City. But when you think about she rarely ever truly walked NYC streets on the show. I walk between five to 10 miles each day. Trust me, high heels are not for that.

Now, I will happily and gleefully note I probably have over 100 pair of high high heels. I started off by saying I love high heels. I love wearing them in the workplace where the click clack sounds of my heels are heard throughout the building and signals I’m out and about. What people do as a result of hearing my heels is a post for another time. It is funny, though. The heels evoke attention, fear, surprise, quick action, and much more. CNN asked about the future of high heels. Fret not. I don’t believe they are going anywhere.

What we want is to be comfortable and powerful. Such a desire is addressed differently by all. I change shoes numerous times a day, each one signaling something that needs to be understood.
