Colorful Contrasts on a Weekend Hike with My Son

Colorful Contrasts on a Weekend Hike

Right before we held his birthday party, we went on a weekend hike to expend some energy.  If it were up to me I would go hiking every weekend. From a very early age, I have exposed my son to nature and walking trails. we build up adventure stories. When we were in Panama, he believed we were out discovering ancient cities. Nothing more exciting than seeing a young child discovering parts of the world. From an early age, my son has also carried a camera. The goal being to develop an eye for the big and small things alike.

As we hike the trails, he is taught to look up and all around him.

I hope that by exposing him to so many parts of the world far and near that he can develop a sense of his place in the world and how we are interdependent with the world.

Here’s hoping that he always finds the brightness and beauty of things

  1. With the barrage of technology, it’s so easy for children today to lose sight of the beauty of the natural world. I like to take hikes in the local woods with my kids, and also have them interested in tending to their own veggie and fruit gardens. I hope that it counteracts the effects of too much Sponge Bob. 🙂

  2. Wonderful. Way to go for teaching your son to appreciate the beauty that is around us. Not just to appreciate it, but to take it in and realize that there’s so much more than just modern living.
