I need not seek the spotlight
In order to outshine the false prophets
I need not stand ahead of the crowd
In order to have a raised voice
I need not tell a hundred and one lies
In order to achieve a unified vision
I may stand to the side
I may be small
I may shiver at the cold
Yet I will preserve
Yet I will stand strong
Yet I will withstand
I remain steadfast in my integrity
Through this winter of discontent
I remain steadfast in my convictions
Despite the cold blowing winds
I retain a sense of personal clarity
In spite of the lingering clouds
I am my mother’s daughter
I am my son’s mother
And honor them I shall
