I love May. I particularly love it in my old stomping grounds of New York. Just last week I mentioned to someone out here in California the old adage “April showers bring May flowers” and they had no idea what I was talking about. True enough it doesn’t really rain here in Los Angeles. The drought has been real. But in New York, there were indeed tons of blooming flowers in the month of May. Of course, it brought me great distress in that I sneeze a lot when flowers bloom. I mean a lot! I am one walking allergy ball. Be that as it may, I still love seeing the flowers spring up. They bring such great hope and beauty.
I love May for another reason as well. It is my birthday month! I am a May baby. I am charming and bullish simulteanously. And the flower for the month of May, here in the US, is the Lily of the Valley which symbolizes happiness, humility and sweetness. Other beautiful May symbols? The emerald and those are most certainly pretty. I love being a May baby.
And now that I am older, I am a mom as well and thus I get to celebrate mother’s day as well in the month of May. It is a beautiful, celebratory month for me as my son makes life wondrous in every way possible. I get to celebrate my birthday as well as giving birth to a wonderful human being. It doesn’t get much better than that.
