Have you done a Buzzfeed or Facebook quiz lately?  know that the majority of those online quizzes are silly, non-scientific adventures that are meant to sell you something or get your information for a marketing database.  I know that and as a psychologist I am not offended by these so-called personality quizzes. As a matter of fact, I am thinking I should start creating my own quizzes.   They could be a ton of silly fun to pass the time away. Maybe that can be my summer project. I can turn it into a summer camp, of sorts.

A few months ago I posted about my Buzzfeed quiz that noted that my life would be completely different in five years. And lo and behold that transformation has started.  Buzzfeed was an accurate predictor. Of course, it was probably an accurate predictor for about 50% of the people.   That is ok.  It is just meant to be fun and if it ends up motivating some people to engage in meaningful change.

With all that in the background, I took one of those silly Facebook quizzes.   I tend to like those less than the Buzzfeed ones because these are truly click baits.   Alas, I did one that was supposed to tell me what my real name should be. Sure, why not find out what my mother should have known and considered years ago.

Turns out, my perfect name is that of Ruby. I had a good laugh as I always think of the Wizard of Oz when I hear the name Ruby.  You know-because of the ruby red slippers.  To me the name signals  being transported elsewhere. I don’t think I know anyone with that name but apparently it is somewhat popular. In particular, it is a popular name in the United Kingdom. Who knew? Not me.  Supposedly, Ruby first became popular as a name in the late Victorian era along with other jewel names.  I guess that was a time for showy names other than Elizabeth.   The name Ruby is also popular on the west coast.  However, I have yet to meet a Ruby out here in Los Angeles. Maybe I need to hang out more in Hollywood to encounter a Ruby.  Or I can just take on the Ruby name and persona.

In the various name dictionaries out there, the name Ruby connotes a sultry and vibrant image.  Interestingly, I had the word vibrant plastered all over my 2018 vision board as I want this year to be about taking bold steps and vibrancy.   It may well be that Facebook was onto something when it suggested that my real name is that of Ruby. So, maybe call me Ruby. Although, I am quite fond of being Mimi. Nice to have viable options, though, should I wish to take on a second stage name.
