The horizon beckoned her forth: She would heed its call

She had walked for miles on end. Her feet were bloodied and broken. But it wasn’t the harsh, dry land that had ripped her apart. She had done this to herself. She didn’t know any other way to be.

She had always had a scab or two on her body. She picked and picked at herself. She bled and healed and bled some more.

She had always wanted to change but there was no path by which to do so until now. Today, she would be scab-free for she was raw. It was all now broken.  There was nothing left to pick at.

Tommorrow, everything would be new.  The horizon beckoned her forth and she would heed its call.
